Tea Mobile

July 8th, 2009

Ever found yourself gagging for a cuppa at work – but not wanting to boil the kettle seeing as you made the last one?

Me too.

So to help office morale around the world, I’m creating a website so you can track who’s made what and more importantly, who’s next.

new look for summer!

July 6th, 2009

If you’re looking at this and have read any of my other posts, you’ll notice that the site has had a makeover that would make Nick Knowles and his DIY SOS team proud!

supreme-oakley-sunglasses-1Gone are the default WordPress colours and images – there are so many bright colours now you need a pair of sunglasses to view it!

How hard is it to create a WordPress theme?

Armed with a ready supply of tea, a well stocked iTunes library and a kick-ass design from Ryan DC, my mission, if I chose to accept it, was to find out …

Sporting Stadia – Part I: Football

June 27th, 2009

So, The list.

Loads of sporting venues from all over the globe, plotted on a huge list in order to prove who’s more of a sports fan. There’s a multitude of power-ups, bonuses and extras that bump up your score – it’s so complicated it’d make Carol Vorderman wince.

Each sport has it’s own mini-list of venues – but instead of printing them all out as a big long undigestible list that would be about as exciting as reading through the Encyclopedia Britannica, I’ll go through each sport one by one.

bulldozerThis time it’s football and below is a breakdown of the 8 that made it onto the list plus a few others that didn’t – for those who missed it, you get a point if you’ve been to the venue and another one if you’ve seen a match there (max of 1 extra point). Oh, and if the stadium has been bulldozed you get an extra brucie bonus point.

Project naming conventions

June 24th, 2009

We’ve got a new project at work.

It’s really cool and we want it to have a secret project name that sounds awesome and makes us feel important by talking about something no-one else knows about.

But what do you do when you haven’t got any kind of naming convention of projects? Get one quick because revision 641 of the development branch sounds pretty naff whilst Project Apocalypse sounds awesome!

In the past Microsoft have had some great names for projects – “Sparta” for Windows for Workgroups and “Wolfpack” for Microsoft Cluster Server are a couple of the best whilst Apple have free roam over the big cats. I’ve had all sorts for my computers in the past -  planets, constellations (good job I only had 2 computers as I don’t know many constellations), beer, ancient forgotten cities, the list goes on..

Contact from Guinness

June 22nd, 2009

I heard back from Guinness today (the world record people not the ones who make that awful drink) (although they are probably the same)

After many months of waiting, my application to break the world record for eating cream crackers in the fastest possible time has been accepted. All I have to do now is fill in a form and the record attempt is on.

Sporting venues from around the world

June 21st, 2009

A few years back I got into a discussion (ok, an argument) with a mate about who had visited the most famous sporting venues.

I’d been to Yankee stadium, he’d been to the Crucible. I’d taken in a match at the old Wembley stadium but he’d been to the Azteca stadium in Mexico.

As is usual in things like this (or maybe it’s just me), I drew up a list so we could keep score..

Record breaker

June 21st, 2009

I’ll make no bones about it, I want to be a record breaker and if Usain Bolt can do it, so can I.

I don’t know where this has all come from – maybe it stems from watching Roy Castle & Norris McWhirter on Record Breakers. They used to get a load of randoms (with the occasional celeb) in each week to break all sorts of records ranging from running the 100m backwards to knitting the worlds biggest blanket.

Perhaps it was when Kriss Akabusi took over from Roy…
