If you’re looking at this and have read any of my other posts, you’ll notice that the site has had a makeover that would make Nick Knowles and his DIY SOS team proud!
Gone are the default WordPress colours and images – there are so many bright colours now you need a pair of sunglasses to view it!
I used the same idea as I described in my 2 minute guide to creating a WordPress theme, only this time I had to do the design myself.
I started off with a Russian style font, added a few rounded boxes and finally a sun. After a bit of helpful advice from Ryan DC, I ditched the font, chose a new sunnier mexican style and added a bit of colour to my post boxes. Sounds easy and something that you can do in a couple of hours, but as I don’t know my Airbrush from my Elliptical Marquee it took me a little bit longer.
It’s certainly not complete and there’s a few improvements to make but one thing is for sure – it’s better than what was there before!
Let me know what you think and if you’ve got any suggestions for things to add (cactus silohoette at the bottom maybe?) leave a comment.

Oooh I think I might like the old style – I’m not so good with change. I’d argue it looks a little more autumnal / late summer too because it’s a king of burnt orange / terracotta vibe. Summer for me is a bit more palm trees / bright blue / golden sand and all that. Oh and if you could make it smell like suncream also then I reckon that’s just the ticket.
That said, no denying it looks sexy. I’m off to Google WordPress and find a blog about vegetables.
Shame about the cacti shadow pointing the wrong way. Other than that it is nice bright theme that catches the eye. Very cool.
Cacti shadows are now the right way. And there’s a cow skull and a mountain if you’ve got a widescreen monitor!
Hey! No laughing at my green and yellow website ANYMORE Gubby!!
Yeah, but your green website is a really horrible green. Mine is a really nice red, and a really nice yellow!
